Posted on Monday, 10 February 2020 09:56London-listed hospital operator NMC Health issued a statement earlier today to confirm recent media speculation that it has received highly preliminary approaches from two investors regarding possible offers for the company. According to the business, KKR and GK Investment Holding Group have both expressed interest in the group. However, no offer has been tabled at this time and there have been no discussions that have taken place. The statement follows media reports last week that suggested NMC Health has piqued the interest of unknown private equity firms regarding a takeover. Shares in the company rose 14.1 per cent following the announcement of the interest to GBP 7.99 at 08:34 earlier today, giving the group a market capitalisation of GBP 1.67 billion. There can be no guarantee that any proposal will be tabled or as to the terms of any possible offer. NMC Health has offices in the United Arab Emirates and the UK and is listed in both Abu Dhabi and London. The group is billed as the largest private healthcare company in the gulf and ranks among the top fertility service providers globally, according to its website. During the opening six months of 2019, NMC Health recorded revenue of USD 1.24 billion, up 32.6 per cent from USD 932.00 million in the corresponding period of 2018. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation rose 22.5 per cent to USD 276.30 million in H1 2019 (H1 2018: USD 225.50 million). In 2020 to date, there have been 146 deals targeting health care and social assistance companies announced worldwide, according to Zephyr, the M&A database published by Bureau van Dijk. Interestingly, the largest of these involved Al Qebaisi and Al Muhairi selling 15.0 per cent of NMC Health to institutional investors for GBP 493.00 million. New Zealand-based Oceania Healthcare, South Africa’s Netcare, Shanghai New Vision Eye Hospital Investment of China and Cayman Islands-incorporated Pine Care Group, among others, have also been targeted in the year so far. © Zephus Ltd
