A little story… On August 31st 2000 Illumina saw the light and had a price of $22.67. By April 13th 2003, the price had dropped to $0.94. A drop of about 99.5%. Yesterday the price closed at $405. It took Illumina 18 years to get from 0.94 to 405. They laid the foundation of sequencing as we know it. Bionano Genomics seem to have found a niche that starts where long and short reading has halted. According to a growing number of scientists we are on the verge of enormous break-throughs using OGM. When « small » companies like AstraZenica start using this technology, you (should) know, the game is on.
