In a huge surprise Semaglutide patent protection in Mexico might get prolonged to 2029/2033.
The patent expired by end of March like in several other countries.
But all the sudden a judge prolonged the patent protection to cover 10 years from launch in Mexico.
It’s not final settled yet. But if $NVO ends up with further patent protection, that will have significant positive effect for NVO in Mexico

Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen, CEO of the Novo Nordisk Foundation and former Novo R&D chief, is joining a new scientific advisory panel to advise $NVO on strategy, pipeline and R&D.
He says the market has changed quickly and that outside perspectives may be useful.
“There is no one who wants to see their favorite football team lose,” he told Børsen.
The panel also includes John Maraganore, Paul Berns and Genmab CEO Jan van de Winkel, and will advise Novo’s R&D committee rather than make decisions.
Mads Krogsgaard Thomsen says oral Wegovy has brought “a bit of tailwind on the bike path,” but the longer-term focus may shift beyond weight loss percentage toward broader health benefits.
