Oil prices tumbled in volatile trade after US President Donald Trump said the war with Iran was "pretty much complete," lifting hopes that the conflict may be nearing an end and easing fears of a prolonged supply shock in the Middle East.
Trump told CBS that the United States was well ahead of its original timeline and said Iran had already fired what it had to fire.
In post-settlement trade at 3:35 pm ET, West Texas Intermediate for April delivery fell 10.48% to $84.58 a barrel, while Brent for May delivery dropped 10.22% to $87.85 a barrel.
