So, wollte meine Detox nur kurz pausieren um die Infos mit euch zu teilen. Bin wieder weg 😄🫡

They have stopped installing new 200mm equipment as of about January or February of this year. Of the 2.2million square feet of floor space only about 200,000 is being utilized. They originally planned for 4000 200mm tools (about 10x the capacity of the Durham plant) but instead they have about 300 completed tools with only about 50 actually running production.

Interessante Replik eines anderen Users: That's not what I got from his comments. What I hear is that they are waiting until Renesas (and other customers) can handle 200mm wafers. Apparently Mohawk Valley is their main user of 200mm wafers. Durham is still up and running with 150mm tools, but is scheduled to be shut down by the end of 2025. If there is still demand for 150mm wafers, it could move out to 2026. My guess is that Durham won't be shut down until all the customers can handle 200mm wafers. They were only intending to use half the space at JP and have room to expand. So they were at 20% utilization when he was let go (that's the number they gave in the last earnings report).

Ich bleibe trotzdem dabei und werde noch ne Weile zusehen und wenn’s passt und der Rebound kommt nachher alles abstoßen oder es wird alles nur mies geredet weil im Hintergrund gerade viel passiert Ich hätte auch kein Problem, etwas mit minus zu verkaufen, dann wäre das sehr schmerzhaftes Lehrgeld,….. Deutsche Übersetzung: Vielleicht sollte ich das nicht posten, aber ich hab' mir aus Sicherheitsgründen einen Throwaway-Account angelegt. Ich hab' vor kurzem von dieser Community erfahren und nachdem ich mir viele Beiträge angesehen hab, hab ich das Gefühl, dass die meisten von euch uninformiert und in einer Traumwelt leben – ihr kauft einer falschen Geschichte auf, die hier von anderen Leuten verbreitet wird. Außerdem könnt ihr nicht einfach „500 Dollar zahlen, um reinzukommen“. Es gibt strenge Sicherheitsvorkehrungen auf dem ganzen Campus, und man braucht einen Ausweis, um überhaupt irgendwo auf dem Gelände – besonders im Produktionsbereich – hinkommen. Sogar Lieferantenbesuche waren streng kontrolliert – mit Absperrungen, damit die Lieferanten keinen Bereich betreten konnten, den sie nicht zu warten hatten. Ich war einer der kürzlich ca. 800 Mitarbeiter, die von den Entlassungen betroffen waren, und kann ein paar echte Einblicke in diese Firma geben. Das Erste ist, dass die Firma selbst sehr schlecht geführt wird. Es gibt haufenweise mittleres Management, die im Grunde nur Beförderungen bekommen, um einen neuen Titel zu haben. Es gibt jede Menge „Manager“, die entweder null oder einen Mitarbeiter haben, den sie tatsächlich managen. Meine Gruppe wurde schlecht geführt, und wir wurden von unseren Managern oft einfach ignoriert, wenn es um Verbesserungsvorschläge (sowohl für uns selbst als auch für Prozesse) ging. Das ist seit den Entlassungen wahrscheinlich etwas zusammengelegt worden, aber das war meine Erfahrung in den paar Jahren, die ich dort gearbeitet habe. Was den Standort Siler City angeht – ursprünglich sollte er fast 4000 200-mm-Tools haben. Derzeit wurden aber nur etwa 200 gebaut, von denen etwa 50 aktiv eingesetzt werden. Das letzte, was ich gehört habe, ist, dass sie komplett aufgehört haben, neue Tools zu bauen, und jetzt planen sie, eine EPI- und Maschinenbauabteilung am Standort Siler City zu bauen. Es ist wichtig zu beachten, dass, obwohl der Bau des Werks in Siler City größtenteils abgeschlossen ist, die eigentliche Fläche größtenteils leer ist und derzeit nur etwa 200.000 der 2,2 Millionen Quadratmeter genutzt werden. Darüber hinaus haben sie, bevor sie mit der Produktion im Werk Siler City begannen, eines ihrer bestehenden Gebäude umgebaut (sogar das Auditorium und die Basketballplätze entfernt) für etwa 350 200-mm-Tools. Es stimmt, dass Wolfspeed der einzige SiC-Produzent im großen Maßstab in den USA ist. Andere Länder holen aber schnell auf und stellen eine echte Bedrohung für Wolfspeed dar. Ich glaube schon, dass Wolfspeed bestehen kann, und zu diesem Preis ist es ein akzeptables Risiko (so wie jedes Risiko in der Glücksspielbranche, die wir „Aktienmarkt“ nennen).

Aussage eines Mutmaßlichen Insiders von Wolfspeed: Perhaps I shouldn’t post about this but I created a throwaway account for my own identity sake. I recently learned about this community and after looking through a lot of the posts I feel like most of you are uninformed and delusional - giving into a false narrative that’s being spun by the other people here. Also, you would not be able to “pay $500 to get in” there is tight security all around the campus and you must have badge access to get anywhere on campus - especially within the manufacturing floor. Even vendor visits were highly controlled - with barriers set up to prevent vendors from accessing any area they were not there to service. I was one of the recent ~800 employees impacted by the lay offs and can share some actual insight into this company. First thing is that the company it’s self is very poorly run. There is a ton of middle management who are essentially given promotions just for the sake of a title change. There are plenty of “managers” who have either zero or one employee they actually manage. My group was poorly managed and we were often outright ignored by our managers when it came to suggestions for improvement (both self and process). This has probably been consolidated some since the layoffs but that was my experience in the few years I worked there. As far as the siler city location - it was originally slated to have almost 4000 200mm tools. However, they have currently only built around 200 with about 50 or so actively being deployed. Last I heard they have ceased building new tools completely and they are now planning on building an EPI and machine shop department in the siler city location. It is important to note that while the Siler City plant construction is mostly complete, the actual floor is mostly empty with only about 200,000 of the 2.2 million square foot being utilized at this time. On top of this - before starting production on the siler city plant they converted one of their existing buildings (actually removing the auditorium and basketball courts) for about 350 200mm tools. This building has never once ran at full capacity - even when the stock price was over $80. When I left we were utilizing only about 40% of the tools there. It is also important to note that while Wolfspeed can produce 200mm SiC chips - most of their clients do not have the same capabilities to actually use them. This, combined with a lackluster sales team, has been a major contributor to their decline in the last few years. They have shifted entirely off of RF and Lighting - making them entirely dependent on SiC. I want to be clear that my intention is not to spread negative information and try to dissuade people from investing. It is true that wolfspeed is the only SiC producer at scale in the US. However other counties are quickly catching up and pose a real threat to wolfspeed. I do believe wolfspeed can have staying power and at this price point it’s a fine risk (just as any is with the gambling industry we call the ‘stock market’)

Bin mir nicht sicher, ob das gut ist für wolf, wenn der Chinese jetzt sic steuerfrei nach Amerika liefern kann.
