Ant Group Reportedly Forms AI Innovation Dept 'NextEvo', with Ex-Google AI Engineer in Charge
36Kr.com reported, citing sources, that Ant Group has set up an internal AI innovation R&D and application department called "NextEvo", with Xu Peng, vice president of Ant Group, being the person in charge.
According to the report, NextEvo is an elite AI department within Ant Group, which is responsible for the research and development of all core technologies of Ant AI, including the research and development of the Ant Bailing Foundation Model. Last year, the department published more than 30 papers in top AI journals and conferences.
NextEvo's open-source DLRover, an intelligent large-scale distributed deep learning system, and GLake, a GPU display+transmission optimisation open-source project, are said to be filling the gap of technology open-source for AI verticals in China.
Xu worked at Google for 11 years, where he was responsible for and led the core technology development of Google Translate, and participated in the algorithm development of Google's display advertising system.
