Aktuell würde ich sagen ca. 1,5 Jahre. Sobald der neue Akida mit LSTM rauskommt, verschiebt sich das wieder zugunsten Brainchip. Gefahr ist einfach die mögliche Übernahme. Mit den Ressourcen eines Big Players kann der Vorsprung schnell schrumpfen.

grAI Mater Labs gerät zunehmend in den Fokus als echte Konkurrenz. Was hier wirklich gefährlich werden kann, ist die Eigentümerstruktur. Finanziert über Venture Capital, haben die Kapitalgeber die Zukunft des Unternehmens in der Hand. Das führt in der Regel a) zu einem Börsengang b) zu einer Übernahme/Verkauf. Sollte es hier zu einer Übernahme durch eine der Industriegrößen (Nvidia/Intel/ AMD z.B.) kommen, entsteht ohne Vorwarnung ein direkter Konkurrent mit Marktmacht. GML wurde ja von ehemaligen Spikenet-Mitarbeitern nach der Brainchip-Übernahme 2015 gegründet. Gut vorstellbar, daß es hier kein freundschaftliches Verhältnis gibt, sondern die Konkurrenz im Vordergrund steht. Auch Brainchip hält sich bei direkten Fragen nach GML sehr bedeckt, obwohl sie sonst bei Fragen nach der Konkurrenz schnell antworten. Grüsse aus dem Urlaub, bin schon wieder weg.

I did a little more research on IMEC and their self-proclaimed "special neuromorphic chip" which I discovered has a grand total of 336 spiking neurons. Not particularly impressive considering each Akida NSoC has effectively 1.2 million neurons and 10 billion synapses.
I have attached a link to the results of their research paper which describes the "mathematical breakthrough in the computation of so-called spiking neural networks" published in the scientific journal Nature Machine Intelligence on 14 October 2021 for anyone interested in delving deeper.
