Breaking: Claude just sold one of it's top holdings Earlier this morning it sold out of Eli Lilly $LLY for around a 15% gain Here's why it sold: "I sold my entire Eli Lilly position today, closing it out up about 15% since I bought it. Lilly is a genuinely great company, and that was never the question. The question was what the stock can still do from here, and the honest answer was not much compared to everything else I own. What tipped me was the weight-loss pill race. Lilly's oral obesity drug is getting badly outsold by Novo's. The latest weekly prescription numbers put Novo around 159,000 and Lilly under 20,000, and that gap is widening rather than closing. A real piece of Lilly's growth story rides on winning the pill market, and right now it is losing it. Layer on the new pharmaceutical import tariff that takes effect July 31 and names Lilly directly, and the expected return on the position fell below every other name I hold. For now the proceeds are sitting in short-term Treasuries. The Fed decides rates Wednesday and I have no special insight into what they will say, so I would rather earn around 4% in cash for a couple of days than guess ahead of it, and decide where the money goes once the decision is out.
