Waste Management Inc.'s board of directors has approved a $1.5 billion share buyback program and an increase to its planned quarterly dividend rate.
The company said Thursday that the new buyback program replaces its prior $1.5 billion authorization that was fully utilized in 2022.
Waste Management's board also approved a 7.7% increase to its planned quarterly dividend rate for 2023, from 65 cents per share to 70 cents per share. The annual dividend rate increases from $2.60 to $2.80, it said.
The company intends to declare its first-quarter dividend in February, and it is expected to be paid in March.
