Global tungsten production has decreased by eight per cent in 2024 and by 12 per cent during the last five years. China is responsible for producing a large share of global supply (78 per cent). The Chinese government carefully oversees domestic supply of tungsten to manage the industry. Mines in China and abroad are facing natural depletion and declining ore grades, meaning more material must be processed to yield the same amount of tungsten concentrate. Vietnam is the world's second-largest producer, producing seven per cent in 2024.
