Arafura Secures $159M Investment for Nolans Rare Earth Project, Aims 4% Global Supply by 2029 [SMM Rare Earth News Flash] Australian company Arafura Rare Earths announced on April 1 that it had signed binding equity subscription agreements with Germany's KfW and Australia's Export Finance Australia (EFA). The two institutions will jointly invest approximately A$230 million (approximately $159 million) to develop the Nolans rare earth project in the Northern Territory. The project plans to supply 4,440 mt of Pr-Nd oxide per year from H2 2029, accounting for approximately 4% of global supply. Arafura has signed an offtake agreement with Siemens Gamesa and is actively seeking European offtake partners to secure an additional 500 mt/year of Pr-Nd oxide capacity. https://news.metal.com/newscontent/103846435-Arafura-Secures-159M-Investment-for-Nolans-Rare-Earth-Project-Aims-4-Global-Supply-by-2029

Die ganzen Nachrichten haben leider keinerlei Einfluss auf den Kurs. Der Impuls ist schon wieder verpufft. Nervig. Vor allem der Markt in Australien zieht immer wieder runter.

Australia given fuel supply assurances as plans in works for visit by Japan's prime minister In short: Japan will provide Australia with a normal level of fuel supply as the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked. The Australian government is continuing to meet with fuel exporters in the region to shore up ongoing supply. What's next? Japan's Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is planning a visit to Australia, Japanese media is reporting. US policy shift reshapes competition while highlighting reliance on rare earths This could ease pressure from Chinese competitors in the US humanoid robotics market, benefiting Hyundai Motor and its Massachusetts-based subsidiary, Boston Dynamics. The effort is in line with the automaker’s broader plan to establish a US-based humanoid robot production plant with an annual capacity of 30,000 units by 2028. Its auto parts subsidiary, Hyundai Mobis, is supporting the initiative by building a local robotics components facility. Initially focusing on actuators, the facility could potentially expand to include grippers. The limits of decoupling Despite Hyundai’s competitive advantage over Chinese players, experts caution that US restrictions on Chinese robots could extend to key materials — mirroring its approach in the military platforms and the electric vehicle sector, where policies effectively aim to restrict or disadvantage Chinese-dominant supply chains. Washington is already moving to ban Chinese-origin rare-earth magnets and materials across defense platforms starting 2027. Such measures could expand to humanoid systems in the robotics sector, which rely on the same rare-earth-based components. However, as the country moves to secure a non-China rare earth supply chain for military hardware systems, maintaining price competitiveness could become increasingly challenging for US humanoid robotics companies.”
