As stock prices and valuations hit multi-year lows, both Canadian Solar and JinkoSolar look to be nearing the bottom of the cycle. Solar energy is an extremely cheap energy source and is expected to keep growing in the following years. Consolidation in the sector will only make Canadian Solar's and JinkoSolar's position in the market stronger. Their balance sheets remain solid and should last till the market recovers. Personally, I favor JinkoSolar because of its market leading position and shareholder friendly initiatives. Nevertheless, one can make a case about Canadian Solar's strong recurrent energy segment. Consequently, I rate both companies as a "Strong Buy."
