However, there remains a strong contingent of crypto bulls that are viewing the fall in prices as a buying opportunity and none are more optimistic than DigitalX, which operates a fund investing in digital assets. Having initially invested $750,000 in its DigitalX digital asset fund, the company announced on Friday it will be doubling its planned investment. “The recent fall in prices is part of what you pay for what’s on the table, so when we see opportunities like the current one, we take advantage,” said DigitalX fund manager Matt Harry. “This is very normal price behaviour given the crypto sector is still nascent and while volatility is elevated at the moment, it’s actually fallen over the past three years.” Mr Harry believes the investment case for bitcoin remains strong, and the macro situation actually plays well into its long-term proposition. “The disaster we’re seeing unfold with regard to super easy monetary policy and massive increase in monetary supply plays well into bitcoin’s long-term value proposition,” he said. “This threat of inflation is legitimate and I’m in the camp of bitcoin being used as an inflationary hedge, or gold 2.0, because it does a better job as a store of value asset than gold.”
