The proposed valuation is between $2.3 billion and $2.4 billion, a premium of up to 28% over its current market value of approximately $1.87 billion. Unger, who imports Kia vehicles among other ventures, aims to eventually merge ZIM with his own shipping company, Ray Shipping, in a deal combining cash and share exchange. The acquisition is expected to be financed with 50–60% leverage: $500–700 million in equity from the group, and the remainder via bank loans, mezzanine financing, and potentially hundreds of millions in backing from prominent Greek maritime financiers The board is weighing if Glickman should step aside during talks and whether to sell when Zim’s market value is below its cash holdings.
