J&J granted order that may prevent import of Intuitive robotic staplers - Bloomberg Law https://seekingalpha.com/news/3753247-johnson-johnsson-thicon-granted-order-that-may-prevent-import-of-intuitive-robotic-staplers-bloomberg-law Johnson & Johnson's (NYSE:JNJ) Ethicon unit was granted an order by the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") that could prevent the import of robotic staplers from Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG), Bloomberg Law reports. Ethicon claimed that its patents were infringed with Intuitive's EndoWrist and SureForm devices, which are used with da Vinci surgical systems. The FTC ruled that Intuitive's staplers, reload cartridges and components infringe one J&J patent. The commission also issued an import ban on the products. However, the ban will not yet be imposed as J&J is fighting a Patent Trial and Appeals Board ruling that the patent in question is invalid.
