$NVO $NOVO SB1 Markets reiterates its Buy rating on Novo Nordisk with a target price of DKK 350 after both Novo and Eli Lilly have presented news at the European Congress on Obesity (ECO 2026) in Istanbul. SB1 Markets says the data shows that a large proportion of the total weight loss is linked to early high responders, and this group appears to account for 20–30 percent of users. In Novo's STEP UP study, 84 percent of the weight loss was related to fat loss. In Lilly's study, SB1 Markets notes that patients using Wegovy maintained their weight better after switching to oral treatment compared to users of Zepbound. This is also interesting in light of the fact that Novo's oral drug shows almost 50 percent higher weight loss effect compared to Lilly's weight loss tablet (16.6 percent vs. 11.2 percent). Around 70-75 percent of users are expected to be normal responders. In this group, the difference between injectable and oral alternatives is significantly smaller compared to high responders: around 3.9 percent vs. 6.1 percent. These dynamics may lead to a trend in the future where normal responders switch to oral alternatives earlier, possibly after the first 4-6 months of injection treatment, SB1 Markets says. SB1 Markets also notes that a very high proportion of users at this stage of the launch of Novo Nordisk's Oral Wegovy (January to early May) are new to obesity treatment. This clearly indicates that Lilly's and Novo's oral drugs are likely to accelerate penetration in the US obesity market.
