BABA held a communication meeting with business leaders of Taotian Group at the end of last month, during which Jack Ma called on the top management to open their minds and make bold innovations, because he believed that the group is in face of stiff competition, Chinese media reported.
While thinking the successful pathways of the past are no longer applicable for BABA, Ma laid out three directions for future development of the group, namely return to Taobao, return to users and return to internet.
Ma mentioned the advertising marketing platform Alimama at the meeting, viewing that the platform has been earning money lazily. He suggested the team to unroll more product innovations down the road, for example servicing small and medium merchants with AI.
The BABA founder also remarked that the group should flatten its structure, reduce reporting levels and encourage younger people, while allowing senior employees to take on more responsibilities.
