hört sich nicht wirklich gut an: Larry Reaugh's American Manganese Inc. (AMY), unchanged at 24.5 cents on 338,000 shares, says it is "currently reviewing opportunities" within its current portfolio of "intellectual and mining projects." One of the latter prospects that Mr. Reaugh is pondering is the Artillery Peak manganese project in Arizona. Artillery Peak held 65.7 million tonnes at a minuscule 2.2 per cent manganese and Mr. Reaugh, president and CEO, says that the company recognized that "low-grade deposits of manganese were not economic" and thus required "disruptive technology" to make them so, using higher-priced forms of manganese products. Apparently that realization did not sink in until after the company completed a preliminary economic assessment of the project in 2012 using traditional technology. The dream sheet yielded a discounted net present value that was $74.4-million in the red for a $477-million mine plan. Even then, Mr. Reaugh was insisting American Manganese would soldier on with a feasibility study and eventually to a "positive project development decision." The company has recently dropped some of the ground but it kept areas with the highest grades.
