Wertlose Ausbuchung z.B.

Frage: So those who shorted, they don't have to buy it back? Antwort: Nope. There’s nothing left to buy back. All equity is gone (for shareholders) & the remains of what used to be BBBY are now owned and controlled by the liquidating trust. No shareholders have claims to that trust (its there to distribute the liquidated holdings to the bondholders in the order agreed to in court). And shorts no longer pay interest on their positions because there’s no position to buy anymore. They just keep the money they sold those shares short for. Frage: When you borrow a share, and sell it, you have to buy it back at some point. You're hoping to buy it back at $0.0001 or less if possible, or even better, indefinitely kick the can and never close your position, so you never pay taxes on it. It doesn't matter if theres any equity in the company or not. If you borrowed a stock, if you have to give it back. And if you sold it, that means you have to buy one in the future. Antwort: No… I’m sorry you’ve been mislead and misinformed, but that is not true. If a stock is no longer connected to equity, it cannot be traded, and a short is not required to trade for it to close the position. The position is simply closed by the broker the short opened their position with. There’s nothing to buy and no ability to even buy it. The stock that was shorted represented a percentage of equity in a company. That was its value (irrespective of price). When the share no longer represents equity, it loses all value & there’s 0 mechanisms on earth that force anyone to trade for a value-less stock to “close the position.” I’m not sure where you got this information from. If what you said is true, then every single short in any stock that loses its equity and can’t be traded would be stuck forever, owing interest until the end of time to a broker who doesn’t even trade the stock (because it’s illegal to do so). There isn’t this negative loophole that screws shorts over like that. It seems like you just fundamentally don’t understand the mechanisms of a short position.
