In 2026 H1, China's BEV market reached cumulative domestic sales of 3.1M units, -6.1% YoY.🇨🇳
• #BYD topped the rankings with 458.9k units, despite a 33.9% YoY drop, well ahead of second‑place #Geely Galaxy (250.1k) and third‑place Tesla (239.0k).
• Leap (223.1k, +46.3% YoY) and #Xiaomi (185.1k, +17.2% YoY) followed, while NIO (119.3k, +60.4% YoY) also posted positive growth, making them the only top‑10 brands to record YoY gains.

Updated vehicle registration data in China as of the end of June 2026 just released by the Ministry of Public Security:
Vehicle parc: 371 million
Licensed drivers: 533 million
NEV parc: 48.97 million (13.19% of vehicle parc, goal is to get to 30% by 2030)
Vehicle registered in H1: 10.51 million, ⬇️15.92%
NEV registered in H1: 5.195 million, ⬇️7.6%
NEV penetration: 49.42%
Basically half of all vehicles registered were NEVs.
Good and the bad: NEV registration down but penetration up.
