Published by Public Health England (PHE), an executive agency of the UK government’s Department of Health and Social Care, the analysis shows that of 42 people who died with the Delta variant, 17 were officially classed as fully vaccinated. Coming at a time when the British public are being urged to volunteer for trials to test whether a third vaccine dose could protect against new variants of the virus, the finding seems likely to be used to promote the idea that regular ‘booster’ doses of the vaccines are now needed. The PHE analysis also shows that a further 17 of the 42 deaths occurred in people who had received two vaccine dose 21 or more days previously. Single doses of COVID-19 vaccines are claimed to provide at least some protection against the coronavirus

Selbst wenn die Antwort abgeschwächt ist, ich frage mich, wo ist die klinische Relevanz wenn man zb liest (ärzteblatt): „Die Zahl der Todesfälle ist derzeit gering. Bis Ende Mai sind erst 17 von 9.426 bis dahin mit der Delta-Variante infizierte Menschen gestorben. Die Case-Fatality-Rate ist laut PHE mit 0,2 % geringer als bei der Alpha-Variante (B.1.1.7), die bei 2,0 % liegt.“ 🤷🏻‍♂️

@Donald 23:18 Das ist offenbar tatsächlich der Fall. Ich hatte vor rd. 2. Wochen einmal auf das Design der von der UK Gesundheitsbehörde PHE bezahlten Studie aufmerksam gemacht. Danach wurden die Zahlen der in UK massgeblich verimpften Vakzine (AZ und BioNTech) mittels mathematischer Verfahren geschätzt. Dies wurde von zahlreichen britischen Experten heftig kritisiert. Der entsprechende Link bei PHE wurde offenbar entfernt.
