Es wurden keine US-Personalverluste gemeldet. Der Iran soll als Vergeltung gegen US-Kriegsschiffe und -Tanker vorgegangen sein und Raketen in Richtung Jordanien abgefeuert haben. Der eskalierende Konflikt hat den Schiffsverkehr durch die Straße von Hormus gestört und den Brent-Rohölpreis über 100 Dollar pro Barrel getrieben. Washington erhöht den wirtschaftlichen Druck auf Teheran, während der Iran weiterhin kommerzielle Schifffahrt angreift und eine stärkere Kontrolle über den Verkehr durch die lebenswichtige Wasserstraße anstrebt.
