Microsoft (MSFT) Q1 Performance Expected to be Strong with Azure Growth Projections Revised GuruFocus News 10/22/2025 10:40 Citi Research anticipates a robust performance from Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) for the first fiscal quarter ending in September. The firm is optimistic about revising upward its projections for Azure's growth in fiscal year 2026. After increasing its capital expenditure last month, Citi adjusted its forecast for Azure's growth to around 38% at constant currency, which is two percentage points above market expectations. Citi has slightly raised its target price for Microsoft from $680 to $682, which corresponds to a projected price-to-earnings ratio of 31 times for fiscal year 2028. The rating remains a "buy." www.gurufocus.com/news/3153635/micros...

Aus einem Interview mit dem Microsoft Cloud- und KI-Beauftragten: 'Microsoft has the right of first refusal to sell additional AI cloud capacity to OpenAI. Recently, though, Oracle, Stargate, and others made deals with OpenAI. Can you explain why Microsoft passed on those deals? We have a great partnership with OpenAI, and we’re building out gigawatts of capacity for OpenAI. We haven’t talked as publicly about the projects as others that are entering the space have. Some of the press around projects with other providers won’t start for a while or might not come to market for multiple years. We like to celebrate when we ship things as opposed to when we start things. We’re not going to build everything. And there are projects that we deliberately choose to go after and there’s projects that we sometimes pass. We are trying to make sure we get the balance right in terms of pre-training capacity, inferencing capacity, and post-training capability. And then different parts of the world, we have different needs. When you look at our capex, I think it’s very aggressive. And at the same time, we want to be disciplined and be smart about it. Let’s invest in the projects that are going to deliver the highest ROI and that we feel confident in that we can use for a huge number of use cases.' www.barrons.com/articles/microsoft-st...

'OpenAI’s momentum could help Microsoft, its investor and partner, deliver upbeat September-quarter revenue numbers, the analysts said. That’s because of OpenAI’s robust inferencing needs, which refers to the process of running AI models after training. However, they said investors are worried that OpenAI will ditch Azure amid its partnership with Nvidia Corp. to deploy millions of the chip maker’s graphics processing units. In Reitzes’s view, the deal implies that OpenAI will have to “operate some of its own data centers,” while its relationship with Microsoft remains unclear past 2030. In the short term, things look rosier. Going into 2026, Microsoft’s stock could outperform most of the group of megacap tech companies known as the Magnificent Seven, including Alphabet, Reitzes said, since the company is expected to have upside from OpenAI’s use of Azure for inference workloads. While Microsoft’s stock is only up 4% since July, the analysts see potential for a boost, “since Azure demand is strong, giving it pricing power for GPU instances, due to data center constraints across the industry.” To drive a sustained stock rally, the analysts said Microsoft has to show investors that it’s seeing growing adoption of its Copilot AI assistant, which is necessary to keep the company competitive with ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. That could also convince Wall Street that Microsoft “is the ‘interface for AI’ as the platform of choice to create, run and deploy AI agents.” ' https://www.marketwatch.com/story/tech-earnings-are-coming-and-perhaps-nothing-looms-larger-than-this-factor-6ff2e04b?mod=mw_quote_news

Microsoft Is the Big Winner of CIO Survey on AI. Buy the Stock, Morgan Stanley Says. By Nate Wolf Oct 09, 2025, 12:54 pm EDT Chief information officers expect Microsoft to claim the largest share of generative AI spending in the next three years. (Dreamstime) Microsoft is expected by 37% of chief information officers to capture the largest or second-largest share of generative AI spending over the next three years. Microsoft is also anticipated to gain the largest additional share of IT budgets from cloud migration, according to 49% of surveyed chief information officers. Fifty-eight percent of chief information officers currently have artificial intelligence projects in production or expect to by the end of the year. Microsoft remains in pole position to cash in on artificial-intelligence spending, according to Morgan Stanley’s quarterly survey of chief information officers. Among hundreds of U.S. and European CIOs polled between Aug. 5 and Sept. 9, 37% expect Microsoft to claim the largest or second-largest share of additional generative AI spending in the next three years. That is miles ahead of Amazon.com, ranked second at 12%. “Bottom line, Microsoft again remains the clearest beneficiary of GenAI spend,” wrote Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss. Microsoft has consistently led the field in the bank’s CIO survey. The company is also poised to benefit from the migration of computing work to the cloud from on-premise servers, Morgan Stanley found. Forty-nine of 100 respondents who were asked about the trend expect Microsoft to gain the largest additional share of IT budgets as a result of the shift to the cloud in the next three years. Twelve answered Amazon and six said Salesforce, followed by a host of smaller players. Morgan Stanley reiterated an Overweight rating and a $625 price target for Microsoft stock, which is the firm’s “top pick” in large-cap software. Shares ticked down 0.7% to $521.38 on Thursday. AI continues to dominate the thinking of CIOs; 58% either have AI projects in production already or expect to by year-end. That compares with 60% last quarter. CIOs are also prioritizing security, digital transformation, and cloud-computing projects, Morgan Stanley found. Microsoft has exposure to each of those areas. “We see Microsoft as well positioned for both growth and defense given the current CIO priorities,” Weiss wrote. www.barrons.com/articles/microsoft-ai...

Microsoft Accelerates Network Expansion, Boosts North American Fiber Footprint by 40% to Power AI Era 16:22 06/10/2025 Microsoft Corporation has significantly expanded its North American optical fiber network, increasing its footprint by 40% and adding network capacity equivalent to one-fifth of its entire global infrastructure. This rapid enhancement, which previously would have taken 15 years, was accomplished in just a few months. The expansion is part of Microsoft's shift toward building an AI Wide Area Network (AI WAN) that not only carries AI traffic but is also designed to understand and enable AI, marking a new era in intelligent and adaptive network infrastructure.
