Yes I saw your post yesterday and also liked it :)
It’s great to see more investment into peptide production.
While it’s a big investment for Bachem it’s a small investment regarding oral peptides.
$NVO has ongoing $10B capacity expansion for just peptides API. And there’s rumours about more expansion announcements later this year. Up to another $10B. It’s crazy expensive to scale for oral peptides.
It’s cheaper and faster to build SPPS capacity than recombinant capacity like NVO builds. But duo and triple molecules (bigger molecules) also reduce capacity vs smaller molecules like for instance semaglutide.
That’s also why NVO needs even more capacity for molecules like Amycretin and potentially UBT251 where they’re currently working on a potential oral version.
