ServiceNow posted first-quarter adjusted earnings of 97 cents a share, which was in-line with Wall Street estimates, according to FactSet. Revenue for the quarter of $3.77 billion came in above analyst expectations of $3.75 billion. Despite the beat, shares were down 14% in after hours trading on Wednesday. Wall Street likely wanted more than just in-line earnings for the quarter. ServiceNow reported first-quarter subscription revenue of $3.67 billion, which was just above estimates of $3.65 billion. The company said that subscription revenue growth saw an approximately 75 basis-point headwind from delayed closings of several large on-premise deals in the Middle East due to the war in Iran. ServiceNow also said on Wednesday that large customers for its Now Assist generative AI suite customers—those with more than $1 million in annual contract value—grew more than 130% from the prior year. “Our AI growth is far exceeding even our own expectations, reinforcing our position as one of the fastest growing enterprise software companies ever,” CEO Bill McDermott said in the earnings release. Shareholders are closely watching the business for proof that the company can make money from its AI services.
