"Africa is a huge untapped market with very large economic opportunity." Released in batches of about 30 nanosatellites from the second quarter of next year, the SAS constellation, dubbed "Pearls", will eventually cover a region ranging from the bottom of Angola to Sudan and including Nigeria.

Auszug aus einem jüngsten Gomspace Research Report: Sky & Space Global (SAS). The customer has overdue invoices of SEK31m but SEK10mwas paid in October and the company expects to receive payment of the remainingSEK21m in Q4 18. SAS had AUD5.5m in cash at end Q3 18, hence it needs additionalfunding to proceed. GomSpace’s CEO believes the company will secure funding toproceed, albeit at a lower pace. We have probability weighted the SAS order to 20-25% inour sales estimates. Estimate revisions. We are making minor changes to our estimates. Sales in 2019E arereduced by 2% due to the SAS order. We are now assuming 20% (previously 25%) of initialorder value for SAS in 2019 to be shipped in 2019. If SAS manages to secure financing, shipments in 2019 will be back-end loaded.  Q3 18 review The high cash burn continued, as expected, in Q3, but we believe we are at the trough and willsee negative, but improving q/q development going forward. Key drivers are increased topline, supporting earnings and a reduction in (capitalised) R&D costs. The company has given noticeto 40 engineers in R&D, who will leave the company mid-Q1 19 unless order intake improvesmaterially short term. There is no extra cost associated with the staff reductions and to put thisin perspective the group had 235 employees (189 FTEs) by the end of Q3 18. Furthemore, thereis a good chance that the SEK31m overdue invoice to Sky and Space Global (SAS) is paid inQ4 – SEK10m was paid in October and management expects the remainder to be paid in fullduring Q4. SAS had AUD5.5m in cash on the balance sheet at end-Q3 and is actively pursuingadditional funding.Interesting to note is that SAS recently hired Michael Malone, an experienced entrepeneur andmanager in Australian tech and telco industries, as chairman of the board. Mr. Malone hasacquired shares in the company and is compensated mainly through equity in SAS upon meetingcertain milestones for the company. The milestones are focused around a successful launch ofsatellites (first tranche 50, second 100 satellites) and securing funding in excess of AUD50m.This hire materially increases the chances of future success for SAS, and consequentlyGomSpace, we believe. Having said that, the company has now built up a higher cost base andneeds to secure additional business to leverage on the structure.  Estimate revisions We have mainly finetuned our estimates with a minor reduction to sales in 2019 on the back ofa reduced probability weighting of the original order value for SAS. Over the estimate period, wehave included 25% of the orignal order value. For 2019, we further reduce this to 20%, as evenif GomSpace were to continue to supply SAS, there would be a delay on the back of currentfunding problems, hence sales will be back end loaded in 2019.  Valuation We still see the significant long-term potential following the uncertainty regarding the Sky Spaceand Global order, and the announcement of the proposed share issue. However, we believe therisk has increased Understanding the nature of an emerging, venture-capital funded, industry  Our view remains that it is the rightstrategy to industrialise volume production of nanosatellites in order to reach a market-leadingposition and drive growth in the industry. Having said that, if deliveries to SAS are scaled downsignificantly, which seems likely at the moment, the length of time before GomSpace reaches apositive cash flow is extended.
