baha breaking news[05.05.2026] 06:18 HSBC's Q1 pretax profit at $9.4B, misses forecasts HSBC Holdings plc announced on Tuesday that its pretax profit came in at $9.4 billion in the first quarter of 2026 against the $9.5 billion from the same time period a year ago, missing estimates. The figure reflected higher-than-expected credit losses and other credit impairment charges. Meanwhile, the bank's revenue increased by 6% to $18.6 billion, beating forecasts, while profit after tax dropped by 2% from a year ago to $7.4 billion. HSBC said it expects to "realize $0.5bn in pre-tax revenue and cost synergies across both our brands in Hong Kong by the end of 2028" through the privatization of Hang Seng Bank, which was completed in January.
