Citi says Appen may need to invest, flags Scale AI competition https://www.afr.com/markets/equity-markets/wall-street-climbs-asx-eyes-new-post-pandemic-highs-20210415-p57jo5 Broker Citi has taken a look at the latest raising round for Appen rival Scale AI and says it supports Appen’s valuation, but the Australian player may need to invest in product development as competition rises from the US. According to Citi, Scale AI is growing much faster than Appen and just raised $US325 million on a 73 times revenue multiple to provide a valuation around $US7.3 billion. “Scale AI has a similar model to Appen in that it offers an annotation platform + a crowd workforce,” Citi wrote. “Scale AI has also expanded into providing tools to develop better AI models and last year launched a new solution called Nucleus. While Appen is the largest AI training data provider, it may need to step-up its product development efforts especially on the tooling side.” Citi analyst Siraj Ahmed is still bullish on Appen, with a buy rating and $23.80 price target.

Ich bleibe dabei...Appen 'nen gutes Unternehmen. Aber, eben selbst gestecktes Ziel verfehlt...ob gut oder schlecht begründet...egal...das Vertrauen ist angeknackst. Verkaufen tu ich nix...ob es schnell wieder hoch geht oder nicht, ist im Moment offen. Wenn ich positive Entwicklung meine zu verspüren, werde ich schnell nachlegen. Natürlich ist Appen jetzt günstig zu haben.
