XCM wirs für asymmetrische Richtungen für die Kommunikation genutzt. Man kann damit über Brücken mit anderen Blockchains zu kommunizieren. Ist schon ziemlich genial. Weil man sonst zum Kommunizieren mit anderen Chains workarounds benötigt wie z.b. den wrapped BTC um mit der Ethereum Chain kompatibel zu sein.
