A National Transportation Safety Board report said a UPS (UPS) cargo plane crash in Louisville that killed 15 may have been linked to cracks in a left-engine assembly that Boeing (BA) had previously concluded would not affect flight safety, despite similar fractures occurring on other aircraft, The New York Times’ Karoun Demirjian reports. The MD-11F jet caught fire shortly after takeoff and crashed into nearby buildings, killing three crew members and 12 people on the ground. In a statement, a Boeing representative said that the company supports the NTSB’s investigation and expressed condolences to the families of the victims, but did not address the report’s findings. https://archive.is/5sr0j#selection-2883.0-2941.496
