BREAKING: China imported +163 tonnes of gold in May, the largest monthly import since March 2024.
This marks the 3rd consecutive month with gold imports exceeding +150 tonnes.
As a result, in the first 5 months of 2026, total gold imports rose +76% YoY, to +692 tonnes.
This has been driven by strong retail demand for physical bullion bars and gold accumulation plans, low-cost products that allow investors to build up gold holdings gradually over time.
Meanwhile, the People's Bank of China added +10 tonnes of gold to its official gold reserves in May, its 19th consecutive monthly purchase, bringing total holdings to a record 2,331 tonnes.
China’s demand for gold remains strong.

Reportedly, #BYD will introduce its self-developed Xuanji A3 intelligent driving chip in a new mass-production Denza model next year.
Insiders say the journey from tape-out to vehicle deployment for an intelligent driving chip typically takes at least a year, with the chip itself, algorithm, and vehicle integration all requiring individual validation — so the deployment timeline is difficult to shorten.
On May 28, BYD unveiled the Xuanji A3 chip, already in mass production and supporting L3/L4 automated driving.

All these projects broken ground in 2025Q2. Took 1+ yr for production to start. Shifting battery production to new production takes time. Any time we have a leap in tech, it takes time for that to diffuse. So, why are ppl continue to be surprised that BYD's sales are down so far in 2026? Do you think fast charging battery cell production will get ramped up faster by CATL? All this stuff takes time.

WCF & Horizon CEO Yu Kai were spotted testing driving BYD Seal's ADAS.
Horizon is about to release J6P & HSD 2.0 & BYD might be the 1st to use it. In Apr, Nvidia had 51% mkt share for ADAS chips & Horizon just 13.6%.
BYD is expected to be the launch partner of HSD 2.0, which expects to be a significant upgrade.
I think by this pt next yr, Nvidia mkt share in China's auto mkt will be significantly smaller (not just a little smaller)

Ich fand es auch erstaunlich, wie viel xpeng in Norwegen rumgefahren sind, kalt auch viele Byd s, aber xpeng hätte ich nicht gedacht.
