United States Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Loretta Mester emphasized on Thursday that she anticipates the central bank will be in the position to lower its interest rates "later this year." During a virtual event with the Global Independence Center, Mester stated that she would require "a couple more months of data" in order to evaluate inflation. Furthermore, she expressed her belief that the pace of disinflation on 2024 will not match last year's. Additionally, she mentioned that both the economy and monetary policy are currently "in a good place."
