Enphase’s share of the market for inverters could shrink if a later version of Tesla ’s Powerwall—a compact home battery that holds energy generated by solar—is adopted. The team estimates that about 6% of Enphase inverter installations in California are on projects with Powerwall 2 batteries.
“If TSLA is successful in driving conversion to Powerwall 3, ENPH would lose this inverter share,” analysts wrote. That is because the Powerwall 3 includes its own integrated solar inverter, according to Tesla’s website.
