Longspur research report on Provaris: CO2 Opportunity Builds on Hydrogen Longspur Research from the UK has released an updated research note with a Central Case valuation of $0.11 per share, split between Hydrogen $0.07 and CO2 $0.04 per share. Today's update introduces the CO2 opportunity and highlights a second commercial opportunity for Provaris and a valuation scenario based on the JDA with Yinson and their development of the full CCS supply chain for Norway now based on the Provaris tank. "We think the adding of a CO2 tank to the Provaris offering has not been fully appreciated by the market. With countries such as Norway moving ahead with the development of carbon sequestration, the need for solutions such as that provided by Provaris become immediate. With committed partner funding development, we see the CO2 opportunity as providing near term monetisation for the Provaris IP and complementing the large-scale hydrogen tank opportunity. Also da mache ich mir gar keine Sorgen, schon weil man in Deutschland vermutlich nie H2 günstiger wird produzieren können als die Norweger mit ihrem nahezu kostenlosen und unbegrenzten Strom aus Wasser. Und um den hierher zu bringen braucht es Provaris, nicht zuletzt weil die vormals geplante H2-Pipeline von Norwegen nach Deutschland abgeblasen wurde. Außerdem belästigt Deutschland auch Länder wie Kanada, Indien oder Nordafrika wegen notwendiger H2-Importe, die Herstellung von H2 hierzulande wird demnach nie auch nur annähernd ausreichen und abgesehen davon auch immer viel teurer sein. Ich glaube das ist das kleinste Problem für Provaris, zudem hat man ja noch ein sehr gutes, zweites Standbein für den Fall der Fälle.

Provaris selbst produziert überhaupt keinen H2, sondern will Technolgie-Logistik-Dienstleister werden.

Ein klassisches, zweischneidiges Schwert!

Was das für Provaris strategisch bedeutet Positiv Der europäische Elektrolyse-Boom: validiert den H₂-Markt, schafft Nachfrage, beschleunigt Infrastruktur, erhöht politische Unterstützung, bringt Industrie-Offtaker hervor. Ohne lokale Produktion gäbe es wahrscheinlich gar keinen funktionierenden Wasserstoffmarkt. Negativ Mit steigender lokaler Produktion: steigt Preisdruck, sinken potenziell Importmargen, werden nur die günstigsten Transportmodelle überleben. Provaris muss daher beweisen: 1. dass komprimierter H₂-Transport wirtschaftlich funktioniert, 2. dass H2Neo billiger/simpler ist als LH₂ oder Ammoniak, 3. dass die Technologie skaliert, 4. dass langfristige Abnahmeverträge zustande kommen. Genau deshalb sind die Kooperationen mit: Uniper, Norwegian Hydrogen und deutschen Industriepartnern so entscheidend. Die nüchterne Investment-Perspektive Für Provaris ist der Hochlauf europäischer Produktion: kurzfristig eher positiv, langfristig aber ein Selektionsprozess. Wenn Europa wirklich einen großen H₂-Markt aufbaut, profitieren Transport- und Speicherfirmen enorm. Wenn jedoch: lokale Produktion billiger wird, Pipelines dominieren, Importbedarf sinkt, oder Wasserstoff insgesamt langsamer wächst als erwartet, dann wird es für kleine Spezialanbieter wie Provaris schwierig. Wenn also Deutschland genug günstigen grünen Wasserstoff selbst erzeugt, verliert Provaris potenziell: Volumen, Preisvorteile, Auslastung der H2Neo-Schiffe. Warum der Hochlauf europäischer Produktion Provaris paradoxerweise auch hilft Der wichtigere Punkt ist jedoch: ITM Power & Ceres Power produzieren keinen Wasserstofftransport Diese Firmen bauen: Elektrolyseure, SOEC/SOFC-Technologien, Brennstoffzellen, industrielle H₂-Systeme. Sie lösen aber nicht: Speicherung, maritime Logistik, saisonale Versorgung, Importinfrastruktur, Versorgungssicherheit. Genau dort positioniert sich Provaris. Das bedeutet: Je mehr Elektrolysekapazität Europa baut, desto stärker entsteht überhaupt erst ein funktionierender Wasserstoffmarkt — inklusive Transportbedarf. Europas strukturelles Problem bleibt bestehen Deutschland hat weiterhin: zu wenig günstigen erneuerbaren Strom, begrenzte Flächen, hohe Strompreise, langsame Genehmigungen. Darum hält die Bundesregierung weiterhin an großen Importzielen fest: H₂-Importe aus Norwegen, Nordafrika, Nahost, Australien. Selbst optimistische Szenarien erwarten eine erhebliche Importabhängigkeit bis 2035+. Die zentrale Studie zur europäischen Wasserstoffstrategie kommt ebenfalls zu dem Ergebnis: Vollautarkie wäre extrem teuer, reine Importabhängigkeit aber ebenfalls riskant, am wahrscheinlichsten ist ein hybrides Modell. Und genau in diesem Hybridmodell liegt die Investment-These von Provaris. Der eigentliche Wettbewerb: Pipeline vs. Schiff Langfristig ist für Provaris weniger ITM Power gefährlich als: europäische Wasserstoffpipelines, das H₂-Backbone, direkte Norwegen-Deutschland-Leitungen. Denn sobald große Mengen kontinuierlich fließen, sind Pipelines oft günstiger als Schiffe. Provaris versucht deshalb bewusst eine Marktnische zu besetzen: Regionale flexible Lieferketten kleinere bis mittlere Volumina, frühe Marktphase, flexible Hafenlösungen, Versorgung industrieller Cluster, keine milliardenteuren Pipelines nötig. Das Unternehmen argumentiert: Komprimierter Wasserstoff per Schiff sei für Distanzen bis etwa 1.000–2.000 nautische Meilen kosteneffizienter und schneller skalierbar als Ammoniak oder neue Pipelines.
