Trump: Gold will not be tariffed United States President Donald Trump declared on Truth Social on Monday that "gold will not be tariffed." Last week, it was reported that Washington had placed a tariff on 1-kilogram gold bars, resulting in an increase in gold futures price, which briefly hit an all-time high on Friday. In addition, it was unclear whether the 39% duty the Washington had previously imposed on Switzerland applied to that country's gold exports to the US. Gold fell 1.31% at 1:41 pm ET to trade for $3,353.58 per ounce.
