Lynas produces world’s first dysprosium outside of China https://www.australianmining.com.au/lynas-produces-worlds-first-dysprosium-outside-of-china/

Das ist so wild, es gibt nichtmal einen Spotmarktpreis für Dysprosium, weil China nicht mehr verkauft. Aber es ist ein kritischer Rohstoff der gebraucht wird.

MINERALS RESERVE WILL MAKE MONEY: MINISTER Resources Minister Madeleine King expects Labor’s critical minerals strategic reserve to deliver financial returns to the taxpayer and make Australia safer. Ms King still cannot say what critical minerals the Albanese government intends to hold in its strategic reserve, more than six weeks after deciding on the controversial market intervention. She intends to form a taskforce to work out the details of the election policy, and said it might take until July 2026 to start accumulating minerals deemed strategically important to the economy. Lynas Rare Earths CEO Amanda Lacaze warned some Western nations would never again get access to high-performance permanent magnets from China in the fallout from the trade war between the US and Beijing. Ms Lacaze said no such magnets – used in aerospace, defence, wind turbines and electric vehicles – had left China since the spat over tariffs. “They will start to leave, but there will be certain Western countries that never get high-performance, rare earths permanent magnets from China again,” she said on Wednesday, appearing at an event in Perth where Ms King also spoke. Ms King and Ms Lacaze have clashed over the merits of the strategic mineral reserve, with the Lynas boss predicting the policy will create idle warehouses. The tension comes amid new findings from the International Energy Agency that investment momentum in critical minerals has weakened, with spending up just 5 per cent in 2024, down from an increase of 14 per cent in 2023. Lynas last week broke China’s monopoly on processing heavy rare earths by producing dysprosium at its refinery in Malaysia. The company has said it will give US defence contractors priority in the supply of dysprosium, a key ingredient in advanced magnets. “The US defence industrial base is now secure,” Ms Lacaze said. Ms King told the same conference that Australia would be “stronger and safer” by virtue of the reserve. “We are going to have a taskforce because you can’t just do these things on a whim,” she said.

Lynas achieves first separated Heavy Rare Earths production Lynas Rare Earths Ltd (ASX: LYC, OTC:LYSDY) (“Lynas” is pleased to confirm first production of Dysprosium Oxide (Dy) at Lynas Malaysia. As announced in the March 2025 Quarterly Report on 28 April 2025, the new Heavy Rare Earth separation circuit was commissioned during the March quarter and first production of Dy was expected in May, followed by Terbium (Tb) in June. Commenting on the first Dy production, Lynas Rare Earths CEO and Managing Director Amanda Lacaze said: “Lynas is pleased to confirm first Dy production on our new production line at Lynas Malaysia. The production of this on spec Dy is a significant step for supply chain resilience and provides customers with the option of sourcing product from an outside China supplier. Lynas is now the world’s only commercial producer of separated Heavy Rare Earth products outside China. ‘’Lynas is uniquely positioned to contribute to and benefit from efforts to diversify and rebuild supply chains, including opportunities for a sustained market restructure. We are engaged with customers in Japan, the United States and Europe regarding Heavy Rare Earths supply,’’ Ms Lacaze added. As noted in the March Quarterly Report, pricing for the new Heavy Rare Earths products is expected to reflect the high demand for these products outside China. https://wcsecure.weblink.com.au/pdf/LYC/02947190.pdf

China may expedite US rare earth permit approvals after trade truce: Reuters https://www.mining.com/china-may-expedite-us-rare-earth-permit-approvals-after-trade-truce-reuters/?amp=1 Erst mal nicht so gut

Lynas CEO says company is eyeing rare earths buys in Malaysia, Brazil https://www.reuters.com/markets/commodities/lynas-ceo-says-company-is-eyeing-rare-earths-buys-malaysia-brazil-2025-05-07/ Lynas Rare Earths (LYC.AX), opens new tab is eyeing potential purchases of rare earths deposits in Malaysia and Brazil and plans to work with early-stage developers to help bring their mines online, its CEO Amanda Lacaze said on Wednesday.
