'OpenAI’s momentum could help Microsoft, its investor and partner, deliver upbeat September-quarter revenue numbers, the analysts said. That’s because of OpenAI’s robust inferencing needs, which refers to the process of running AI models after training.
However, they said investors are worried that OpenAI will ditch Azure amid its partnership with Nvidia Corp. to deploy millions of the chip maker’s graphics processing units. In Reitzes’s view, the deal implies that OpenAI will have to “operate some of its own data centers,” while its relationship with Microsoft remains unclear past 2030.
In the short term, things look rosier. Going into 2026, Microsoft’s stock could outperform most of the group of megacap tech companies known as the Magnificent Seven, including Alphabet, Reitzes said, since the company is expected to have upside from OpenAI’s use of Azure for inference workloads. While Microsoft’s stock is only up 4% since July, the analysts see potential for a boost, “since Azure demand is strong, giving it pricing power for GPU instances, due to data center constraints across the industry.”
To drive a sustained stock rally, the analysts said Microsoft has to show investors that it’s seeing growing adoption of its Copilot AI assistant, which is necessary to keep the company competitive with ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini. That could also convince Wall Street that Microsoft “is the ‘interface for AI’ as the platform of choice to create, run and deploy AI agents.” '

Chief information officers expect Microsoft to claim the largest share of generative AI spending in the next three years. (Dreamstime)
Microsoft is expected by 37% of chief information officers to capture the largest or second-largest share of generative AI spending over the next three years.
Microsoft is also anticipated to gain the largest additional share of IT budgets from cloud migration, according to 49% of surveyed chief information officers.
Fifty-eight percent of chief information officers currently have artificial intelligence projects in production or expect to by the end of the year.
Microsoft remains in pole position to cash in on artificial-intelligence spending, according to Morgan Stanley’s quarterly survey of chief information officers.
Among hundreds of U.S. and European CIOs polled between Aug. 5 and Sept. 9, 37% expect Microsoft to claim the largest or second-largest share of additional generative AI spending in the next three years. That is miles ahead of Amazon.com, ranked second at 12%.
“Bottom line, Microsoft again remains the clearest beneficiary of GenAI spend,” wrote Morgan Stanley analyst Keith Weiss. Microsoft has consistently led the field in the bank’s CIO survey.
The company is also poised to benefit from the migration of computing work to the cloud from on-premise servers, Morgan Stanley found. Forty-nine of 100 respondents who were asked about the trend expect Microsoft to gain the largest additional share of IT budgets as a result of the shift to the cloud in the next three years. Twelve answered Amazon and six said Salesforce, followed by a host of smaller players.
Morgan Stanley reiterated an Overweight rating and a $625 price target for Microsoft stock, which is the firm’s “top pick” in large-cap software. Shares ticked down 0.7% to $521.38 on Thursday.
AI continues to dominate the thinking of CIOs; 58% either have AI projects in production already or expect to by year-end. That compares with 60% last quarter.
CIOs are also prioritizing security, digital transformation, and cloud-computing projects, Morgan Stanley found. Microsoft has exposure to each of those areas.
“We see Microsoft as well positioned for both growth and defense given the current CIO priorities,” Weiss wrote.

Microsoft Accelerates Network Expansion, Boosts North American Fiber Footprint by 40% to Power AI Era
16:22 06/10/2025
Microsoft Corporation has significantly expanded its North American optical fiber network, increasing its footprint by 40% and adding network capacity equivalent to one-fifth of its entire global infrastructure. This rapid enhancement, which previously would have taken 15 years, was accomplished in just a few months. The expansion is part of Microsoft's shift toward building an AI Wide Area Network (AI WAN) that not only carries AI traffic but is also designed to understand and enable AI, marking a new era in intelligent and adaptive network infrastructure. RBC belässt Microsoft auf 'Outperform' - Ziel 640 Dollar
Freitag, 03.10.25 18:59

Microsoft’s stock now looks like ‘free money,’ an analyst says. Here’s why.
A Mizuho analyst thinks Wall Street is overreacting to the idea that Microsoft’s cloud unit could lose OpenAI business down the road
By
Emily Bary

Is Microsoft Corp.’s stock “free money,” now that it’s down more than 6% from its intraday high in late July despite strong earnings posted since then?
That’s the view of Mizuho desk-based analyst Jordan Klein, who remains bemused by the fact that the stock continues to face pressure over what he deems to be concerns about the sustainability of OpenAI business going forward.
Microsoft’s cloud-computing unit has benefitted from the company’s close relationship with OpenAI, which has now verged into frenemy territory. Microsoft is still an investor in OpenAI, but the ChatGPT creator has glimpsed an opportunity to get cloud services more cheaply in partnership with Oracle Corp., and those two companies reportedly have struck a $300 billion multiyear agreement.
Investors seem afraid of Microsoft’s stock, according to Klein, with OpenAI “spending like a drunken sailor to build out their own data-center compute capacity so they can eventually move off Azure and get 100% of the profit,” in his view. But he cautions that this is a medium-term concern, since the Oracle transition is “more a 2027” story.
Another fear related to Microsoft is that OpenAI will roll out technologies, including at next week’s developer event, that will challenge traditional software vendors like Microsoft and social-media companies like Meta Platforms Inc. But Klein is doubtful that OpenAI will crush legacy software offerings and noted that Microsoft right now stands to benefit from usage of Sora, a new AI-focused video app run by OpenAI.
“If Sora 2 invitations expand and video content creation jumps, Azure workloads will DIRECTLY BENEFIT in coming weeks and months,” Klein wrote — noting that Microsoft, not Oracle, is currently OpenAI’s big data-center partner.
Microsoft’s stock was trading near $515 when Klein penned his note to clients, and he called the stock “free money” at that level given his expectation for a rebound later in October.
In general, though, he noted that investors have been flocking to “new AI winners” beyond the “Magnificent Seven,” especially given the middling performance of Microsoft, Meta and Amazon.com shares since late August. That’s driven investors who had overweight positions in those stocks to chase highflyers like Oracle, Bloom Energy Corp., CoreWeave Inc., he theorized.
This supports the Microsoft bull case as well, according to Klein, since the big gains for the fresher AI plays seem partly driven by “FOMO,” or the fear of missing out.
Stocks like Microsoft surely “are lagging and that is frustrating, but you have to have some coiled-spring laggard names in your portfolio and cannot own and chase all the recent winners higher and higher,” he wrote. Microsoft’s weak stock performance recently has only lowered the bar for its next earnings report, Klein added.

320 Milliarden $ müssten in die Aktie fließen für ein 10% Anstieg.
32 Milliarden $ für 1% Anstieg.
Wie soll hier ein solcher Anstieg geschehen?

Microsoft Strikes $17B Deal With Nebius to Power AI Ambitions
Agreement provides 100,000 Nvidia GPUs as company shifts workloads to neoclouds
Faizan Farooque
10/03/2025 06:19
Microsoft (MSFT, Financials) has signed a deal with Nebius (NBIS, Financials) to provide computing power for internal AI development, Bloomberg reported. The agreement gives Microsoft access to more than 100,000 Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) GB300 chips.
The deal, valued at $17.4 billion over five years and expandable to $19.4 billion, is part of Microsoft's effort to manage a shortage of data center capacity. By shifting some workloads to neocloud providers such as Nebius, the company is freeing up its own infrastructure to deliver cloud services and run OpenAI models.
Microsoft has signed more than $33 billion in commitments to neocloud firms, including CoreWeave, Nscale, and Lambda. Its foundation AI models under consumer AI chief Mustafa Suleyman were trained at a CoreWeave facility in Oregon.
Scott Guthrie, who leads Microsoft's cloud division, said the surge in demand for generative AI has strained computing infrastructure. He noted that the company is in “land-grab mode” as it races to scale capacity.
The partnerships contrast with Amazon (AMZN, Financials) and Alphabet, which have been slower to embrace neocloud providers. Google is renting limited capacity from CoreWeave, while Amazon has not announced similar collaborations.
Microsoft continues to adjust its infrastructure roadmap, pausing or shifting projects as it balances regulatory requirements and regional capacity needs. https://www.gurufocus.com/news/3128992/microsoft-strikes-17b-deal-with-nebius-to-power-ai-ambitions?utm_source=marketwatch&utm_medium=syndication&utm_campaign=headlines&r=4bf001661e6fdd88d0cd7a5659ff9748&mod=mw_quote_news
