Sterblichkeit: Hier erzielte Opaganib einen statistisch signifikanten, ich würde sagen beachtlichen Erfolg, denn unter Gabe von Opaganib sank die Sterblichkeitsrate um 62%. 7 von 117 Patienten starben unter Gabe von Opaganib, während in der Kontrollguppe 21 von 134 Patienten starben. Das deckt sich mit meinen eigenen Beobachtungen in der Schweiz. Kommen wir jetzt zum Studienfokus, der Sauerstoffgabe: 77% der mit Opaganib behandelten Patienten erreichten das Abstellen des O2 nach 14 Tagen, während 63,5% der Kontrollgruppe nach 14 Tagen Raumluft atmen durften. Das ist keine besondere statistische Relevanz - aber eben als Messpunkt für die Studie ungeschickt gewählt und zu kurz gegriffen (wie schon von mir berichtet). Was uns zum dritten Punkt der Daten bringt: Durchschnittlich konnten die Patienten, die Opgaganib bekommen haben, bereits nach 10 Tagen aus dem Krankenhaus entlassen werden, die Kontrollgruppe verbrachte dort im Durchschnitt 14 Tage. Nach dem derzeitigen Stand der Covid-Medikationen gibt es aktuell nichts besseres als Opaganib. Zwar kommt Merck gerade mit einem neuen Medikament - aber die haben ihre Phase 3 - Studie noch nicht mal begonnen.
