The European Commission approved Denmark and Sweden's proposed restructuring aid of up to 1.3 billion euros for Scandinavian Airlines System (
SAS
, SAS/DKK.CO), or SAS.
The EU regulator said Monday the subsidy, which is part of SAS' 2022 insolvency proceedings and the reorganization of its Swedish and Danish businesses, will support the restoration of the airline company's long-term viability while reducing competition distortions.
