The figure reflected higher-than-expected credit losses and other credit impairment charges. Meanwhile, the bank's revenue increased by 6% to $18.6 billion, beating forecasts, while profit after tax dropped by 2% from a year ago to $7.4 billion. HSBC said it expects to "realize $0.5bn in pre-tax revenue and cost synergies across both our brands in Hong Kong by the end of 2028" through the privatization of Hang Seng Bank, which was completed in January.
