Meta unveils new AI 'world model' to boost robotics
Meta Platforms Inc. announced on Wednesday its new AI "world model" that enables "robots and other AI agents to understand the physical world and predict how it will respond to their actions."
The tech giant said it trained its new model, dubbed V-JEPA 2, on video to help it learn different patterns of interaction and be smarter in the physical world. Additionally, the company noted that this type of AI model enables three core capabilities: understanding, planning and predicting.
"When deployed on robots in our labs, we found that robots can use V-JEPA 2 to perform tasks like reaching, picking up an object and placing an object in a new location," Meta explained.

Fitch downgrades 2025 outlook for global oil sector
Fitch Ratings has revised its 2025 outlook for the global oil and gas sector to “deteriorating” from “neutral,” citing lower-than-expected oil demand growth and rising supply.
The downgrade follows recent US tariff announcements, weaker economic projections, and a faster unwinding of OPEC+ output cuts and increased non-OPEC+ production. Fitch also cut its oil price assumption for 2025 to $65 per barrel from $70, reflecting a likely supply surplus.
"OPEC+'s decision to boost output while prices soften may signal a shift toward defending market share," said the agency.

Der Verbraucherpreisindex (VPI) stieg im vergangenen Monat um 0,1 Prozent, nachdem er im April bereits um 0,2 Prozent gestiegen war, teilte das Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) des US-Arbeitsministeriums am Mittwoch mit.
