FSB Financial stability outlook: After more than a decade of low interest rates, the financial system is transitioning to a higher interest rate environment, and this could bring macro-financial vulnerabilities back into focus. Private and public sector debt are at elevated levels in many countries, making the adjustment to higher rates challenging. More fundamentally, the current tightening is occurring in a global financial system where the provision of finance through non-banks has become comparable in size to bank credit.
