Samsung will einem Zeitungsbericht zufolge in den kommenden zehn Jahren umgerechnet rund 648 Milliarden Dollar (1000 Billionen Won) in Südkorea investieren. Davon seien 300 Billionen Won für den Bau von Chipfabriken im Südwesten des Landes vorgesehen, berichtete die Zeitung "Maeil Business Newspaper", ohne konkrete Quellen zu nennen. Die Pläne sollen am Montag bei einem Treffen mit Präsident Lee Jae Myung vorgestellt werden. Daran nähmen auch Führungskräfte von Samsung Electronics und dem Konkurrenten SK Hynix teil. Die Chiphersteller, deren Produktionsstätten sich bislang auf den Großraum Seoul konzentrieren, stehen unter Druck, ihre Investitionen stärker auf andere Regionen des Landes zu verteilen.

Der Kospi in Seoul legt zunächst um bis zu 1,4 Prozent zu, anschließend fällt der Index aber wieder und verliert aktuell 0,4 Prozent. Das Schwergewicht LG Electronics schnellt um 10,4 Prozent nach oben. Führungskräfte des Konzerns sollen laut Berichten das Nvidia-Hauptquartier besuchen, um über Kooperationen im Bereich KI und Robotik zu beraten.
