Eine Krankenpflegerin im Allgäu stirbt nach einer Impfung mit dem Astrazeneca-Wirkstoff. Ursache ist wahrscheinlich ein Blutgerinnsel im Gehirn. Wenn sich der Verdacht bestätigt, wäre es der 15. Fall in Deutschland mit diesem Zusammenhang. Bisher sind fast nur Frauen von den Thrombosen betroffen.

The numbers published yesterday were based on a pre-specified interim analysis with a data cut-off of 17 February.
We have reviewed the preliminary assessment of the primary analysis and the results were consistent with the interim analysis. We are now completing the validation of the statistical analysis.
We will immediately engage with the independent data safety monitoring board (DSMB) to share our primary analysis with the most up to date efficacy data. We intend to issue results of the primary analysis within 48 hours.

The AstraZeneca US Phase III trial of AZD1222 demonstrated statistically significant vaccine efficacy of 79% at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 and 100% efficacy at preventing severe disease and hospitalisation.
This interim safety and efficacy analysis was based on 32,449 participants accruing 141 symptomatic cases of COVID-19. The trial had a 2:1 randomisation of vaccine to placebo.
Vaccine efficacy was consistent across ethnicity and age. Notably, in participants aged 65 years and over, vaccine efficacy was 80%.
