The Boeing Company employees may have misled the United States Federal Aviation Administration about a key safety system on the 737 MAX in 2016. The FAA announced in a statement on Friday Boeing shared "concerning" internal messages it discovered a month ago, which contain "certain communications with the FAA during the original certification of the 737 MAX in 2016". The aviation regulator said it had turned over the messages to US lawmakers and the Department of Transportation Inspector General. The FAA asserted it was following a thorough process for returning the Boeing 737 to passenger service and that it will lift the grounding order only after it was determined the plane was safe.
