Coinbase: SEC asked to delist all cryptos except for bitcoin Chief Executive Officer of Coinbase Global Inc. Brian Armstrong revealed on Monday that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission made request before filing the lawsuit against the company, asking it to remove all cryptocurrencies from their platform except for bitcoin. "They came back to us, and they said ... We believe every asset other than bitcoin is a security," Armstrong told The Financial Times. "We really didn't have a choice at that point, delisting every asset other than bitcoin, which by the way is not what the law says, would have essentially meant the end of the crypto industry in the US ... It kind of made it an easy choice ... Let's go to court and find out what the court says," the chief executive explained. Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal of Coinbase previously expressed hope in winning the SEC lawsuit.
