Zudem habe es eine Vorwarnung gegeben, um die Zahl der Opfer so gering wie möglich zu halten, berichtet die "New York Times" unter Berufung auf drei iranische Regierungsvertreter, die mit den Plänen vertraut seien.

this was clearly a calculated and choreographed response by Iran. No casualties have been reported and the attack was reportedly telegraphed in advance, just as Iran did in 2020 when responding to the US assassination of the Quds Force commander, Qasem Soleimani. Six missiles, while still dangerous, are not the same as the massive barrage of missiles and drones that Iran is probably still capable of mounting. So the aim would have been to save face by delivering on Iran’s promise to avenge the US raid, but not so drastically that it triggers a catastrophic retaliation by the US and its allies. The ball is now in President Trump’s court. If he chooses to leave it there then tonight will likely have been the high watermark in the US-Iran conflict. There may even be a chance to revive the US-Iran nuclear negotiations further down the line. But Trump may have other ideas. If he decides this needs responding to in turn then this could turn out to be a very hot summer in the Gulf.
