Eine zusätzliche Herausforderung für Mercedes besteht darin, den Energieverbrauch der leistungsstarken Nvidia-Chips auszugleichen, die zur Steuerung von Fahrerassistenzsystemen, großen Infotainment-Bildschirmen und anderen Systemen im CLA und zukünftigen E-Autos verwendet werden. In einem Projekt namens Vision EQXX testeten Mercedes-Ingenieure Möglichkeiten zur Steigerung der Effizienz von Elektroautos. Dieses Fahrzeug hat den Energieverbrauch auf beeindruckende 8,3 kWh pro 100 km reduziert. „Für den Vision EQXX haben wir den Ingenieuren keine Grenzen gesetzt“, sagte Kaellenius. Während der Vision EQXX ein Projekt ohne Einschränkungen war, wird die Produktion des CLA von den Anforderungen der Kunden und den Preisen bestimmt, die die Konkurrenten auf einem immer dichter besiedelten Elektroautomarkt verlangen.
