Guggenheim Upgrades $NOW to Buy from Neutral, PT $125 Analyst comments: "We are upgrading NOW to Buy from Neutral, as we believe current levels present an attractive opportunity for investors to purchase a comfortably profitable stock likely to continue to grow at double digits on an organic, constant-currency basis for the foreseeable future. We view NOW as a well-run company that should see improvement from the important U.S. federal government going forward, though likely AI pressure is real. Recall that we upgraded the stock in December from Sell to Neutral as our call played out, and we believe one should never overstay their welcome with a Sell rating in Software. Since then, much of our thesis has materialized. Following our upgrade to Neutral, NOW shares declined another 35%, versus IGV down 16% and the S&P up 10%, as investors sold software over fears of an impending AI-driven “SaaSpocalypse.” At current levels, we see opportunity from a valuation perspective. NOW has continued leveraging M&A, for what we believe is to sustain growth, in the name of Armis and others, and we also believe NOW has still not yet shown tangible evidence of AI monetization, on which much of NOW’s future plans depend. We want to be clear that we are not upgrading shares because we see NOW as an AI beneficiary, which has been the narrative of the company and some of our sell-side peers. In fact, we continue to believe that monetization is unlikely to materialize for NOW, and that the threat of AI actually does pose significant risks. With that being said, we also do not believe AI will be NOW’s death knell. Additionally, there are other thematic risks that are likely to continue being highly relevant to the story, including long-term target risk, continued talent loss to AI natives and others, and continued risk of significant M&A to support growth. We upgrade shares to Buy from Neutral, with a $125 price target, implying 7.5x EV/NTM Recurring Revenue, a relative premium to its SaaS peers." Analyst: John DiFucci
