The #Lithium industry is currently every day a topic for controversial discussion, keeping us happy and entertained. The newest input came from Bank of America by downgrading Albemarle Corporation stocks to sell from hold. With the current "officially reported" weak Chinese trading activities, the bank adjusted forecasts for lithium prices in 2023 downwards. As a side note - to prices with which the industry can still live well, creating high margins. However - arguing with the "spot market" in China is a risky game. The volumes there are very thin and do not reflect the real contract prices between producers and buyers. So I am wondering - why are banks not doing a "reality check" with industry insiders? On purpose, or don't they believe in the rational of the lithium market as they have never seen such a new market before?
